This keeps bugs out of your face. Period. I worked in Florida wetlands for 3 years & somehow never bought a headnet, but on a summer traverse of Denali NP it saved my life. The ring keeps it from being too claustrophobic, and the material is very transparent and breathable. It could be a little longer-the cinch cord will sometimes roll over my larynx and expose a couple of inches of tasty flesh to the hordes.

After an incredibly buggy trip in BC years ago, I won't leave home without it. The wire rim twists to form a small circle for storage. Can be worn with/without a hat on the inside. Sometimes have wished for a small zipper opening for eating, otherwise, couldn't be better.

Performance
Let me start off by saying that I live, work, fish and camp in Michigan's UP, and if you know anything about da UP you know that the black flies are hellish here. They will swarm on you and crawl all over your clothes searching for a way under your clothes to get at your skin.
The drawstring on this net prevents this and can be drawn down tight without rubbing or irritating my neck. I wore my net while doing stream research in Hiawatha National Forest and while fly fishing. It is super light to carry and quick to unpack and put on over a big hat when you run into a nasty patch of skeeters or flies. I used my net both on the stream and while brush busting from site to site.
After pulling many pickers and several trout flies out of this net I found no significant holes or rips in my net, I was so impressed! The only downfall I found with this product was when I wore both it AND my polarized fishing glasses it really cut my visibility down when trying to locate rising trout, but it really just takes some getting used to. Well worth the price, so durable and keeps the nasties out of my face, and I would pay much more in bug spray over the years I anticipate this net lasting.
